Jinggoy, Alan Peter trade barbs over pork scam: source
MANILA - Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Alan Peter Cayetano had a heated face-off regarding the multibillion-peso pork barrel scam during their caucus Wednesday, a radio dzMM source said.
Estrada confronted Cayetano, the current Senate majority leader, and challenged him to take him head on instead of making snide remarks during Senate Blue Ribbon committee hearings and media interviews, the source added.
Estrada, who is among lawmakers tagged in the pork barrel scandal, reportedly felt offended by Cayetano's questions to whistleblower Benhur Luy regarding the "Sexy" involved in transactions with alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles.
Estrada also allegedly criticized Cayetano for referring to him as "he who should not be named."
Cayetano, in reply, reportedly dared Estrada to face the Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on the pork barrel scam.
He also said he did not intend to pin Estrada but only wanted complete information on the scam.
During the caucus, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV also reportedly criticized Sen. Francis Escudero for incomplete information about the Aquino administration's Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).
Trillanes believes that almost all senators asked funds through DAP but only 6 names have been linked to the controversial program.
The row between senators only ended when talk shifted to the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit Visayas, the source said. - report from Ruby Tayag, dzMM
