GONZALES, Texas – In Gonzales, Texas, a Filipino family is facing deportation because of health problems.

Local newspaper The Gonzales Inquirer has reported that Jojo and Emelyn Nanez, originally from Davao City, face deportation this year.

Emilyn suffered a stroke last march, and has been unable to work for her employer Gonzales Healthcare System, which sponsored her work visa.

Their visas will expire in July.

However, Emilyn is on a disability leave and Jojo, who arrived in the US as her dependent, is now restricted from working.

They have two young daughters to support.

The couple is now hoping immigration officials can offer them some sort of relief.
