LOS ANGELES - With her tickets in hand and one quick pre-trip visit to her family, Melissa Ramoso is off to Washington DC to see President Barack Obama’s second inauguration.

Ramoso is vice-chair of the Southern California Filipino American Democratic Caucus and KAYA, as well as a Democratic National Convention delegate. She is among Obama’s supporters flying out to the nation’s capital this weekend.

This will be the second time she will see Obama take his oath as president of America. She said, “It means a lot to us because he is the president that represents our values. He’ll move forward with immigration reform and everything that we believe in. We couldn’t have had that with the other candidate so we’re very proud to have him in office again.”

She also sees the inauguration as a victory party for her and other Asian American Obama supporters who spent most of 2012 campaigning for his re-election, visiting and calling battleground states like Nevada and Virginia.

Ramoso said, “We worked so hard and we believed in President Obama from day one so his second victory is a victory for us.

She’s packed up for the parties and also for the cold weather of the outdoor ceremony. But aside from the excitement of this weekend’s events, it will also be a work trip for her and her fellow Democrats.

About a million visitors are expected to visit Washington DC this weekend.
