5,000 OFWs in Malaysia agree to return home
MANILA -- Some 5,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Malaysia have availed of voluntary repatriation following a crackdown on illegal foreign workers.
Malaysia's crackdown will start Tuesday, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Raul Hernandez said.
Around 400,000 OFWs, including 200,000 undocumented workers in Sabah, are expected to be affected.
Hernandez assured OFWs of help, including immediate repatriation and consular assistance.
