Caregiver nabbed for elderly abuse in US
EL CAJON, California - A Filipina live-in caregiver was arrested for abusing her 93-year-old patient.
Milagros Angeles, 62, has been charged with felony elder abuse, theft from an elder, false imprisonment, and possession of altered checks.
Police believe Angeles withdrew over a hundred thousand dollars from her patient, Arnold Bauer.
Police searched Bauer's home on Tuesday after a bank raised concerns that they had not seen Bauer since October.
Police found Bauer dehydrated, filthy, and disoriented.
Angeles was allegedly depositing her patient's money into a Philippine bank account.
If convicted, Angeles faces 6 years in prison. Bail has been set at US$1 million.
