LONDON – Everything appears to be in order for the return of the remains of Negros Occidental Representative Ignacio “Iggy” Arroyo.

This is as far as the camp of Aleli Arroyo is concerned.

Aleli, the legal wife of Iggy, and her lawyer Atty. Lorna Kapunan arrived in London Thursday noon.

She did not waste any time upon arrival at the Heathrow Airport in London.

After a grueling 15-hour flight from Manila, she and her lawyer headed immediately to the Philippine embassy in London for a closed-door meeting that lasted for nearly 7 hours.

She wanted to make sure all documents for repatriation were in order and no further delay beyond Friday.

At the airport, Aleli already bared her funeral and burial plans.

“What is sure is that we will spend at least 2 days in the house. From the airport, we will bring the body home and I really owe it to my daughter,” she said.

As planned, there will be a 2-day wake at their residence in La Vista, Quezon City, 1 day in congress, 2 days in Negros Occidental, and another 2 days at the La Vista mansion of former First Gentleman and Iggy’s brother Mike Arroyo.

Iggy and Aleli lived for nearly 10 years in the house of Mike and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Aleli said the funeral plans had the go-signal from the Arroyo family.

Even Iggy's eldest child Bianca conformed to the arrangement, according to Atty. Kapunan.

“Si Bianca, I think, was satisfied that Aleli represents wishes of the whole family in Manila,” said Kapunan.

Iggy's live-in partner Grace Ibuna is out of the picture and was not invited to the wake.

Kapunan explained that they are only talking to Bianca, but not Grace.

“It’s going to be awkward. Aleli said she was trying to get a ticket for Bianca but Bianca said she is making her own arrangements. Now, the unspoken question is where is Grace Ibuna? As far as we are concerned, we are not talking to her. It is also the expressed wish of the family,” said Kapunan.

Meanwhile, embassy officials who attended the closed-door session were mum on the controversial repatriation plan.

However, they expect that Iggy Arroyo's kin will reach an amicable solution.

“In this moment we are in the process of finalizing all the requirements of repatriation,” said Ambassador Enrique Manalo.

As Kapunan puts it, the common ground reached between Aleli and Bianca is for all legal issues to temporarily take a back seat and let the repatriation and a decent burial take place in Manila.

ABS-CBN News tried to get a reaction from Ibuna and Bianca. However, they have yet to respond as of posting.
