Bail denied for Pinoy charged with murder in Hawaii
REDWOOD CITY, California – A Hawaii judge denied bail for Giovanni Lictawa Corpuz, 41, who faces second degree murder charges for the New Year’s Eve killing of 88-year-old Amby Cruz.
Police allege that Corpuz shot Cruz at his home where he was found dead on early New Year’s Day.
Corpuz then attempted to go to the Philippines. But in an international effort he was arrested while transiting through Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
The judge sided with the prosecution that Corpuz is a flight risk.
The trial date is set for April 21.
