What do Pinoys think of passport services in malls?
MANILA - The efforts of the Department of Foreign Affairs to make passport application and processing easier for the public is paying off.
This, after a survey conducted by the Social Weather Station (SWS) showed that 52% of respondents find the DFA satellite offices in the malls as "very helpful".
Only 34% of the respondents find it "moderately helpful", while 10% answered "a little helpful", and 3% said it was "hardly helpful".
The respondents were asked the question:
"Sa nakalipas na dalawang taon, nagbukas ng 14 na opisina ang Department of Foreign Affairs o DFA sa mga piling malls ng Robinson's, SM, Ayala at Gaisano sa Metro Manila at probinsiya upang mas mapalapit ang serbisyo ng DFA sa publiko. Sa palagay ninyo, gaano ba it nakatulong sa ating mga kababayan?"
The DFA has so far four satellite offices located in the following malls in Metro Manila:
SM City Manila
Metro Alabang Towncenter
It also has 10 regional consular offices in the following areas:
Last month, the DFA inked a memorandum of agreement with Ayala Land's Cagayan De Oro Gateway Corp. and Araneta Center (Ali Mall Cubao) for the opening of the 11th regional consular office and the fifth satellite office in Metro Manila respectively.
Aside from the regional and metro offices, the DFA is holding its main consular office at ASEANA Business Park, Bradco Avenue corner Macapagal Boulevard. Barangay Tambo, Paranaque City.
The SWS Fourth Quarter 2013 report interviewed a sample size of 1,550 respondents. The survey has an error margin of ± 3%.
