38 Pinoys to arrive from Syria: DFA
MANILA – Thirty-eight Filipinos from Syria will arrive Friday afternoon in Manila, bringing the total number of repatriated Pinoys from the war-torn country to 5,212.
The repatriates, on board Emirates Airlines flight EK 332, is scheduled to arrive at 4 p.m.
Of the 5,212 Filipinos sent home, 2,185 were repatriated via Lebanon with the assistance of the Philippine Embassy in Beirut.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Damascus met with the Filipino community again in Syria on February 9 to remind them of the government's mandatory repatriation program.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is appealing to Filipinos who are still in Syria to seek immediate repatriation.
The families of Filipinos in Syria may also provide the DFA with up-to-date information regarding their next-of-kin's present location and contact details in Syria.
"Those who wish to do so may call the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers' Affairs (OUMWA) at (02) 834-3240 or 834-4583 or the DFA's 24-hour Action Center at (02) 834-3333," added DFA.
