Fil-Am pleads not guilty to lewd acts with a child
REDWOOD CITY, California - A Bay Area Filipino man caught in an undercover police sting pleaded not guilty to charges related to attempting lewd acts with a child.
Detectives in San Mateo County arrested 28-year-old Marlon Melad Monton of San Francisco last December after receiving information that the suspect had approached and given his number to two middle school children.
Working undercover, police pretended to be a 13-year-old girl and began texting with Monton who presented himself as a high school junior.
Police arrested Monton when he tried to meet with the pretend teenager in the city of Millbrae.
He was reportedly carrying beer, the cell phone used in the text message exchange with undercover police, and a bottle of lotion.
