'Mr. Baltic', 'Champoy' star dies

NEW YORK - Subas Herrero, an actor who became known for his "Mr. Baltic" role and the "Champoy" TV show, has died.

Herrero's daughter, Cutuy, posted in her Facebook page that her father, whose real name is Ricardo Wright Herrero, passed away peacefully Thursday.

The 69-year-old Filipino-American of Mexican descent died due to complications from pneumonia.

Hererro retired from Philippine showbusiness after he suffered a stroke in 2000.

He was last seen on ABS-CBN on the TV show "Star Smile Factory" in 1995.

In the US, he was last seen on a 2000 TV movie shot in the Philippines in playing the role of Gabriel Arias in "Noriega: God's favorite".

His daughter told Balitang America that Herrero's wake and interment will be announced soon.
