89 Pinoys in Qatar cast ballots on 1st voting day
MANILA, Philippines - A total of 89 Filipinos living in Qatar cast their ballots at the start of the overseas absentee voting for the 2010 elections last Saturday, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Monday.
The Philippine Embassy in Qatar said polling stations opened at exactly 8 a.m. on April 10 in anticipation of a good turnout of voters.
Sixty-two-year-old Arnulfo Aguirre, who works in the Printing Division of Ali Bin Ali, was the oldest voter to cast his vote on Saturday. He cast his vote at 8:23 a.m.
On the other hand, 21-year old Sarah Jane Faustino Ramos was the youngest voter to cast her ballot on the first day of voting. She cast her vote at 9:08 a.m.
Ambassador to Qatar Crescente Relacion said he expects more Filipinos to troop to the 4 voting precincts in the next few weeks. There are 15,883 registered voters in Qatar.
