Trial for murdered Pinay in Canada continues
BRAMPTON - The trial of Jocelyn Dulnuan, the 27-year old housekeeper who was murdered at her employer’s Missisauga mansion, is being held this month in a Brampton Court.
The suspected killers of the married mother of a young child from the Philippines are Fabian Loayza-Penaloza, 39, and Christian Figueroa, 37, both from Ecuador. Both have pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the 2007 killing.
The Crown contends Dulnuan was killed during a burglary at the 30,000 square foot mansion where Jocelyn worked as a maid.
The jury was told that Dulnuan was strangled with a copper wire, and that her head was smashed against the kitchen sink, according to newspaper reports quoting Crown prosecutor Steve Sherriff.
Dulnuan’s murder triggered the Justice for Dulnuan campaign in the Filipino-Canadian community led by her relatives, live-in-caregivers and their advocates.
The trial continues this month at Courtroom 408 of the A. Granville & William Davis Court House in Brampton, Ontario.
