MANILA – About 600 overseas Filipino workers temporarily staying at the so-called "Tent City" are set to be repatriated from Saudi Arabia.

"The government will take care of their airfare, as well as other immigration fees," Vice President Jejomar Binay said.

However, the date of the arrival of the OFWs has yet to be announced.

"I am optimistic that the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) under Sec. [Albert] del Rosario's direct guidance are working hard so that our kababayans can come home at the soonest possible time," Binay said.

In a statement, Binay said the delays in the OFWs repatriation were mainly due to their lack of exit visas from their employers.

"Unawain lang ninyo na ang nagtagal dito 'yung requirement doon sa exit visa dahil may mga kababayan tayo na may ibang kaso, pagkatapos ayaw bigyan ng mga employers ng exit visa," said Binay.
