SAN FRANCISCO, California – A Filipino shipyard worker who was fired from work for acting “too gay” plans to file a civil case against his company.

Vincent Atos plans to file the case in the next few weeks against Alcatraz Cruises.

“I just want my job back and an apology from my employer that they were wrong,” Atos said.

Last Saturday, Pride @ Work, the Harvey Milk Club and union members rallied in front of the Alcatraz Cruises to protest Atos’ firing.

Atos claimed he was fired last October for acting “too gay” at work and for attempting to organize a union. Alcatraz Cruises has denied any wrongdoing or discrimination.

He said management accused him of sexually harassing his co-workers. He was accused of offering a male co-worker oral sex, calling his crewmembers “hot” and taking pictures of his crewmembers and posting them on social networking sites.

“Everybody jokes about sex at my work where people are sailors,” Atos said. Balitang America
