ALEXANDRIA, Virginia - A Baltimore hospital that fired a group of Filipino nurses and a member of the hospital staff two years ago stressed that no court has found Bon Secours Hospital guilty of discrimination.

Reacting to ABS-CBN News report through an email received today (July 3), a hospital spokesman pointed out that “no lawsuit has ever been filed by Ms. Rosales or anyone else against Bon Secours claiming discrimination about speaking Tagalog or based on their being of Filipino descent.”

Filipino nurses Anna Rowena Rosales, Corina Capunitan-Yap and Hachelle Natano, and administrative staff employee Jazziel Granada, were fired by Bon Secours Hospital in 2010.

“Ms. Rosales and Yap were misquoted about the status of their claims against Bon Secours Baltimore”.

“Bon Secours has a long history of being an equal opportunity employer” and through the spokesman, “the Hospital denies that it took any action against the employees based on their Filipino national origin.”
