KUWAIT – A Filipina household service worker allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside her employer’s house in Qadsiya on July 1.

The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait said authorities there identified the victim as 35-year-old Jeneby Ventura Guilaran, married with two children, and a native of Carmen in North Cotabato.

“Nagpadala kaagad ako ng tauhan ng embassy doon sa police station na may hawak ng kaso, ang Qadsiya police,” said Dalidig Ibrahim Tanandato, head of the Assistance To Nationals (ATN) unit.

Tanandato said he sent ATN Action Office Mar Hassan and ATN interpreter Muamar Mamucion to confirm the incident.

Based on the initial investigation, the OFW was found dead inside her room on the morning of July 1, 2012.

On the day of her death, the OFW even had breakfast and then went back inside her room.

The embassy summoned the OFW’s employer, Sami Ali, to shed light on her death. According to the Ali, they can’t see any reason why the Pinay would kill herself.

Ali said the OFW had been working for them for 2-and-a-half years. She had been given a day off every Friday and was treated like a member of their own family.

Tanandato said the embassy is closely coordinating with the Kuwait Criminal Investigation Division to look into the real cause of the OFW’s death.

“Iniimbestigahan nila iyong cause of death kung meron ba itong foul play o wala.  Sa ngayon, ang kaso ay nasa Office of Public Prosecution sa Justice Palace,” he said.
