HOLLYWOOD - A Filipino-American actress is poised to reveal her talents in a big Hollywood movie this year.
Fil-Am actress Sharon Leal is the lead actress in the upcoming movie "Addicted", showing in US cinemas in October.

Based on the steamy novel by Zane, Leal portrays a wife and mother fighting temptations that might tear her family apart.

Born to a Filipina mother, Leal has always loved performing. In school, she honed her musical talents which eventually led to starring roles in Broadway's Miss Saigon and Rent.

In 2006, her big movie break came via "Dreamgirls" where she co-starred with Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson. She was also with Soulmen with Bernie Mac and Samuel L. Jackson.

She was also part of the ensemble "Why did I get Married" and its sequel.

On TV, Leal was in the cast of the critically acclaimed Boston Public for four years. She also joined fellow Fil-Am actor Reggie Lee in NBC's Grimm for a recurring role.

But having the starring role in Addicted proved to be the actress' biggest challenge so far to make it into Hollywood stardom.

Hollywood is currently on a roll with movies geared for adult audiences and "Addicted" comes ahead with the highly publicized Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation.

Leal was also in the 2013 psychological thriller, The Last Letter.
