MANILA, Philippines - About 10 Filipinos, including four minors, will be arriving on Tuesday evening from war-torn Syria.

"Today, in the evening, via an Emirates Flight, there will be about 10 OFWs, including four children who will be arriving tonight," said Assistant Secretary Raul Hernandez of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.

Hernandez said there is no let up in their effort to bring home Filipinos from Syria.

"The repatriation is continuing and we are doing our best to bring our people back home," said Hernandez.

Last Monday, 27 OFWs have arrived in Manila from Syria.

Hernandez reiterated that many of the Filipinos who are working in Syria are undocumented.

"Some of them have not registered with our embassy. Therefore, there's a need to find where they are located and bring them out of harm's way," he said.

The Philippine government raised alert level 4 in Syria which calls for a mandatory repatriation of all Filipinos in the country.

"We have asked them to avail of the repatriation effort of the government," he said.

Aside from the undocumented status of most Pinoy workers, Hernandez added that the continuous deployment of Filipinos to Syria is making their work more difficult.

"While we are repatriating our people back home there are new arrivals who have been facilitated by illegal recruiters and syndicate to work in Syria. That makes our work more difficult and more challenging," he said.
