49 distressed OFWs from Saudi back in Manila
MANILA, Philippines – More than 50 Filipinos repatriated from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia arrived in Manila, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Friday
The repatriates, composed of 49 distressed overseas Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia and 8 minors, arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Thursday.
Administrator Carmelita Dimzon of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and DFA officials welcomed the 57 Pinoys who enlisted the assistance of the Philippine Consulate General and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Jeddah to facilitate their repatriation.
The mass repatriation was a result of appropriate representations made by the Consulate and POLO-Jeddah with Saudi authorities.
The Department of Labor and Employment provided the funding for the repatriation.
