Kin concerned about missing OFW in Singapore
MANILA, Philippines – A sibling of a household service worker based in Singapore said his sister went missing the night she fled to the Philippine Embassy’s premises.
Alan Mandado said he was informed by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) that his younger sister, Agnes, 32, left the embassy around 6 p.m. Wednesday and has yet to return.
The OFW fled to the embassy on Wednesday afternoon after escaping from the office of her agency, the Faith Employment Agency in Mountbatten in Singapore.
Mandado said his sister temporarily stayed with the agency after she left her Chinese employer last week. Agnes told him that her employer was very strict and watched her every movement. Her employer even placed a CCTV camera inside the toilet.
Agnes went straight to her agency but escaped by jumping off the second floor of the building when she heard about an alleged plan to rape and kill her.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mandado received another call from Agnes informing him that she arrived at the embassy. But by nightfall, Agnes left again and could no longer be contacted by her family.
OWWA said it will do its best to gather information to locate the OFW. Her agency likewise promised to get in touch with her family if they have news about the OFW. – Jennifer Garcia, ABS-CBN News
