MANILA, Philippines - Twenty-one Filipinos and their dependents were evacuated and repatriated from the Gaza Strip last week.

The Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv led by Deputy Chief of Mission and Charge d'Affaires Neal Imperial facilitated the evacuation and repatriation of the Filipinos.

The group was assisted by the United Nations Office of the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), Israel and Palestinian authorities.

They left Gaza via the Erez border crossing and were brought to the King Hussein-Allenby border, where they were received by representatives from the Philippine Embassy in Amman, Jordan.

This was the third group of Filipino families to leave the territory in the last month due to the ongoing armed conflict.

A month of war between Israel and Gaza has killed 1,910 Palestinians and 67 Israelis. Thousands of homes have also been destroyed in Gaza.

So far, a total of 33 Filipinos and their dependents have been evacuated from Gaza.

The Department of Foreign Affairs reiterated its call to all remaining Filipino nationals in Gaza to avail themselves of the repatriation offer of the Philippine government.
