MANILA - Filipinos in Saudi Arabia are reminded to take measures and observe health guidelines against the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Corona Virus (MERS-CoV).

The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh issued the reminder after a Filipina nurse, who initially had tested positive for MERS-CoV but was cleared by the health department on Friday, arrived in the Philippines from Saudi Arabia.

"Filipino workers in the healthcare sector should strictly follow infection control protocols in their workplaces," the embassy said in its advisory recently.

The Department of Health said the Pinay nurse will soon be discharged after test result from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine showed she was negative for MERS-CoV.

The embassy strongly advised them to take advantage of voluntary MERS-CoV screening tests available thru their employers, especially if they intend to travel back to the Philippines.

"Filipinos who take the screening tests are advised to wait for their results before traveling and to bring a copy of their test results for the perusal of Philippine health authorities upon arrival," said the embassy.
