Bulacan native crowned Miss Caregiver in Ontario
ONTARIO, Canada – A Filipina beauty from Bulacan province was recently crowned as Miss Caregiver 2010 in Ontario.
“Sobrang saya po ako. Hindi po ako makapaniwala na ako po yung mananalo,” said Miss Caregiver 2010 Alma Tabucoy.
Tabucoy, a teacher by profession, said her dance interpretation during the talent competition was about her father dropping her off at the airport when she left the Philippines to take a job in Canada.
Tabucoy won a free trip to Ottawa, a free hotel stay, a tour of the Canadian Parliament and a chance to meet Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Tabucoy was among the 9 Filipina beauties who took a day off from their care-giving jobs to join the pageant.
The contestants sashayed on stage in sporty outfits, showed off their talents and proudly wore their evening gowns.
Their employers and other guests could hardly believe their transformation.
“I'm in awe because they work hard and I know they have families that are left in the Philippines,” said Cash Money’s vice president for operations, Kris Shyne.
The candidates were judged based on their performance in the casual wear, evening gown and talent competitions as well as in the question and answer portion.
The event was also a fund drive for caregiver Madonna Galinato who is suffering from brain aneurysm and whose family needs financial aid. Report from Marlou Tiro, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
