HOLLYWOOD - Filipino-American musician Troy Laureta has worked with some very popular and talented artists. An accomplished keyboard player and musical director, Laureta frequently goes with them.

"I worked with a lot of different artists. I went on tour with Demi Lovato. I worked with Sir David Foster and Stevie Wonder. It's been fun. It's been a journey. It's been fun and amazing to work with people I looked up to," Laureta told ABS-CBN.

He grew up in Hawaii where he developed his talents as a musical prodigy.

"I started when I was 6, playing classical music. I didn't start doing the performing side until I was 10. Since then, I've been doing a lot of production, since I was 16. I started doing it professionally when I was 18," he said.

Working with talented stars stoked his creative fire even more. Hitmaker David Foster is his idol.

"I grew up with him. I'm a 90s child, so all the music, all of my influences were from David. Especially now, with the contemporary stuff, I mix that with Timbaland, and all those people," Laureta said.

Currently, he is the keyboard player for Ariana Grande for her live shows. Ariana, who just released her first album, is the American music industry's latest breakout star.

"I'm excited. It's always fun to see how a career grows and to be able to work with artists who are starting from the bottom going up. It's always fun to see. I'm blessed," Laureta said.

His other high-profile gigs include musical directing for Charice. He worked with her on "Chapter 10", the international pop star's latest album.

"It's going to be an amazing album because it represents the artist. I think for a long time, she's been searching for her style. This album, we've been able to come up with something that truly represents who she is as an artist," he said.

While he works with many artists, Laureta said his number one artist is his singer-sister Cheesa.

"One day people are going to see what I see in her, and that's an amazing person," he said of his sister, who appeared in "The Voice" in the US.

This month, he and Charice are once again working together in her shows in Germany and Manila.
