Pinay dies while at work in Syria
MANILA – A 29-year-old overseas Filipina worker died in Syria, but her death was reportedly due to natural causes.
"According to the local police and Coroner's office who did the investigation, the OFW died of natural causes and there were no signs of foul play," said Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Atty. Raul Hernandez.
Hernandez said they received the report from the Honorary Consul General in Aleppo, Syria.
The Pinay, he said, collapsed while working on September 7. She was immediately brought to a local hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The DFA declined to reveal the name of the OFW until her next-of-kin is informed about her death.
"We will be informing the OFW's family here in the Philippines in due course," he said.
