PH bags awards at Busan travel fair
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines bagged the Best Folklore Performance Award and Best Booth Design Award at the recently concluded Busan International Travel Fair 2013 in Busan, South Korea.
The award-winning exhibit, organized by the Department of Tourism, was led by Maricon Basco-Ebron, tourism attaché at the Embassy of the Philippines in South Korea.
The exhibit featured the Sindaw Philippines Performing Arts Guild, Inc., which re-staged various folk dances from the Philippines at the Busan event.
The dance troupe was led by Artistic Director Randy C. Guevara and reportedly drew 100,000 visitors.
Also, the exhibit, through various booths, offered daily raffles for free return flights to the Philippines sponsored by Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Busan.
The annual four-day travel fair, held at BEXCO convention center in Busan, closed last Monday (September 9).
According to Korea's Department of Tourism, despite the recent turmoil in the Philippines, more South Korean tourists are expected to visit the country this year. It expects to break the landmark record of one million South Korean visitors achieved on 2012.
