Pinoy recounts experience in train-bus crash in Canada
CANADA – A Filipino was among those injured when a Via train and a city bus collided last week in Ottawa.
Edmer Buen, 18 years old, was on his way to school when the double decker bus he was on collided with the passenger train.
At that moment po I looked out and then sa side nakita ko yung train po then biglang sudden stop po ng bus.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is still conducting a thorough investigation into the crash that killed six people.
Buen's mom, Mercedes, said it was a blessing in disguise that her children were late that fateful morning. If not, all her three children would have been on that bus when the accident happened.
After the tragedy, most of the bus stations in Ottawa were empty as many remain traumatized about the crash.
Flags were all flying at half-mast to honor the victims.
