Suspect in death of Pinay in hit-and-run crash nabbed
REDWOOD CITY, California – The driver suspected of killing two women, including Filipina airport worker Cristina de Leon, in a hit-and-run crash in San Jose, California last September 2, has been arrested.
Police apprehended 24-year-old Danny Coleman, a resident of East Palo Alto last Friday in Union City. Prosecutors have already filed murder charges against Coleman, a suspected gang member, over the weekend.
De Leon, 62, and her co-worker, 63-year-old Carmen Zavala, were on their way to work at the San Jose International Airport early morning on Labor Day, when Coleman crashed onto them in his Mercedes.
Police said after the deadly crash, Coleman left on foot.
Coleman is reportedly not the registered owner of the Mercedes, but authorities said it was not stolen.
