New way to help repatriate male OFWs from Saudi
MANILA - Male overseas Filipino workers who absconded from their original employers before the start of the amnesty period are urged to contact the embassy in Riyadh.
Those without their original iqama and passports are strongly advised to call Mr. Adzwie Joe (0557502134) or Mr. Rene Literal (0508017104) or the labor section at 4832201-03. They should also be ready to provide detail pertaining to their identity and sponsor.
They may also go straight to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Riyadh in the Diplomatic Quarter starting Sunday, 13 October 2013, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
"For your convenience, POLO-Riyadh will not close for the Eid holidays. Please make sure to bring all of your documents that will prove your identity, sponsor name, and contacts if available," the embassy said in a statement posted on its website.
The embassy explained that it has arranged with the Office of the Emir for the creation of an interagency committee headed by the Office of the Emir to look into the cases of those with no documents in preparation for their repatriation. The process will start before the 3 November deadline.
"This facility is only applicable to those who absconded from their original employers before 06 April 2013. If you absconded after 6 April 2013, do not proceed to POLO-Riyadh for this purpose as a different process will apply to you," the embassy said.
