MANILA, Philippines - Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Raul Hernandez said no Filipino has been affected or hurt by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake off the west coast of Canada.
Citing reports from Canadian authorities, Hernandez said Queen Charlotte Islands, which was most affected by the earthquake, is an 18-hour drive from Vancouver, where most Filipinos live.
He added it is also a remote area, which means less people are affected.
The epicenter of the tremor on Sunday (local time) was located 139 kilometers south of the town of Masset.
A tsunami warning alert has already been raised in Hawaii.
