DOHA, Qatar – A contract agreement has been signed for the construction of a school building of the Philippine School Doha in Qatar.
“I am happy to announce that we have this land allocated for the Philippine School Doha. It’s 14,375 square meters of lot and within the next 3 years, we are mandated to build a school building," Philippine Ambassador Cresente Relacion said.
School principal Dr. Alexander Acosta and Ambassador Relacion signed the contract agreement, which will then be submitted to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning to obtain a building permit for the construction of the school.
"Once we get the building permit, we'll be able to start constructing the building itself. Our target is between 8 to 10 months, and hopefully, by the time we award the construction contract, we intend to finish it within 20 months, third quarter of 2014," Engineer Jose Leanda said.
Acosta meanwhile appealed to compatriots in Doha to help in any way they can to expedite the construction of the building.
“Kakailanganin po natin yung tulong ninyo in whatever form of assistance that you can extend to the school, for the sake of our students, for the sake of your children and for creating a legacy of Filipinos here in Qatar,” said Acosta.
Fundraising activities will also be held to further support the needs of the school. Report from Delfin Montenegro, ABS-CBN Middle East News Bureau
