Sonny and Jackie Dizon of Davao are the proud protectors of one of the rarest species of crocodiles.

This species of beauties are called Crocodylus mindorensis.

Sonny tells us that these crocodiles have a very special place in his heart and that this place, before he bought it, was an abandoned pig farm.

Sonny decided to put this piece of abandoned land into good use so he turned it into the home of these endangered crocodiles.

He told us that giving these crocodiles a safe place to live was the only way to save them from extinction.

After a number of years, it is now obvious that Sonny's crocodiles have multiplied and have now outgrown this home of theirs.

They are now too big and too many and can no longer live here healthily and comfortably.

When we heard about Sonny's tireless efforts to save these rare species of crocodiles that were here in Davao we could not pass up his invitation to come see them and help transport them into their brand new home that is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Davao: The Crocodile Park.

To our surprise though, not only were we going to watch these crocs being transferred. Sonny wanted Marc Nelson and I to literally get our hands on these fierce creatures.

My partner Marc, being an Aussie, had a natural affiliation with the crocodiles and seemed to be enjoying every minute of this close encounter with them.

I guess he finally got the feel of " a day in the life" of "Crocodile Dundee."

Sonny tells us that he did not think twice about spending to build this crocodile park.

The reasons being, first and foremost, to preserve these rare species of crocodile and second, he wanted all locals and visitors of Davao to enjoy a unique, up-close experience with crocodiles.

Sonny says he could stay in this park all day and just look at his scaly babies.

There sure was a big big crowd at the park. We were not sure who was the crowd drawer us or the crocs? Being the polite host that he is, Sonny said both drew the crowd.

Being able to have a little part in helping preserve the Crocodylus mindorensis. What a momentous occasion.

We salute Sonny for sharing his resources for the cause of these crocodiles and we also want to thank his very dedicated staff who everyday risk their lives to keep these crocodiles on this earth.

Hats off to this new crocodile park!

From crocodiles to cowboys and cowgirls on horses, Davao really is diverse.

People are passionate about so many things. Davaoeños love their animals and love showing them off even more.

Sonny told us he did not have much to do with putting together this massive horse show.

All he did was place one phone call to this group of horse owners and horse lovers and here they are: out in full force and in full gear to perform especially for Sports Unlimited.

I know people who are scared to get on horses but I don't know of many people who do not enjoy watching horsemanship.

Man and horse go back a long way and horse shows such as this one only proves that as the years go byman and horse really make a great tandem.

We were assured that this is the closest we would ever get to being surrounded by men with guns and in fatigue.

Again, we did not expect this massive fleet of air soft players to come.

They said they wanted to show us how much fun and camaraderie you can have playing air soft.

We'll be very honest we were quite intimidated being side by side with such enormous and very realistic looking weapons.

But after the very detailed explanation that the players gave us about how these fake weapons are assembled our fear quickly turned into fascination.

If there was any group that we have met over the years, this air soft gang was one of the most passionate and enthusiastic.

We could hardly contain their enthusiasm for the game.

Yes, they were being funny and silly before the game started but once that siren went off for the air soft game to begin, believe us, there was nothing soft about this game at all.

It was nothing but very realistic hardcore combat.

To each his own, we guess when it comes to having fun.

If you notice that Marc is getting a little frustrated about learning this Eskimo roll technique on a single kayak, that's because he did get frustrated .

To Marc's defense though, there is nothing easy about this specific technique.

There were even times when it got very tense despite the fact that we were not in an actual river we were just in the pool of the waterfront hotel and still the tension.

I know my partner Marc very well by now, he just won't stop till he gets it. A very Sports Unlimited-like characteristic.

As for me, my Matthew was in the pool too. A perfect excuse to just let Marc try this one.

In the end though Marc stuck to his guns and got it. Finally.

Our instructors even learned a thing or two from my partner. This was not easy at all let me tell you, but it was all good.

Learning something new makes it all worth it.
