Sports Unlimited was set on making this a summer to remember. Fine sand, fine females, fine fun, boys, beach, party, prizes, sea and sports. What more can you ask from a summer’s day time to let your fun juices flow?
This “I-ON” summer invasion event ws all about getting active, feeling energetic, and having a whole lot of fun on the beach. It's game time bring it on I-ON !!
”Kayak Ko 'To” was the first challenge for the teams. My sister Jackie was part of the yellow tea while my partner Marc was in the red team. The "kayak ko to" challenge is basically a kayak race with a little bit of a twist. The twist is, while the kayaker is paddling, members of all the other teams are given balls and are allowed to do whatever they can to distract the paddler without touching the kayak.
Each team goes one at a time. The team with the fastest time wins. Marc's Red Team chose strong man Rovilson Fernandez to be their kayaker. Obviously my partner Marc preferred to be the team motivator and distracter rather than the paddler.
The kayakers in this kind of race have to be very focused and not be intimidated by the distracters. Even though the distracters cannot touch the kayak, sudden movements by the paddler can still cause the kayak to tip over. If this happens, the kayaker can still get back on and continue, but obviously this will slow the team’s time down. Marc's teammate in the red team, Rovilson is doing great and Marc is doing an excellent job motivating him all the way.
Another game was "Battle of the Balls." The main goal of this game was not to get hit by the water balloon. The team that hits both players, first wins. Come to think of it though, with the scorching heat, the water balloon breaking on your body was really refreshing. Everyone felt the heat. And where there is heat, there came fatigue. That’s when the I-ON energy drink came into play. The White Team won the battle of the balls.
A game where speed was essential was “The Energy Race”. Teams needed to field in their good runners here because there was a whole lot of running going on. Three runners were needed for this race.
First: one starts from the I-ON stage and needs to run from Willy's Resort all the way to Surfer World where the second runner was waiting. Let me tell you, speaking from experience, running in the sand, no matter how fine it may be, was tough.
Once the first runner gets to Surfer World, the second runner takes off and has to head further down to "Hey Jude." Thank God for the all you can drink I-ON before this race. It charged them up. And believe me, these runners needed all the charging they got.
Once the second runner gets to Hey Jude, the third runner needs to run all the way back to Willy's Resort where the race started. The run from Hey Jude back to the finish line is no easy feat. Obviously, the teams needed to field in their strongest runner for the last leg of this I-ON energy race.
There was controversy when all the teams arrived at the finish line. Of course the organizers wanted everyone to keep energetic and keep their cool. So they made the call that for this event, there will be no losers. All teams win and get equal amount of points.
Frisbee, dodgeball and soccer were the other sports played in the challenge.
The White Team dominated on all these sports.
What a fun “I-ON Summer Invasion” that was. For us here, we hope you made out the most your summer. |
