Summer is just around the corner. That ensures one thing: Boracay beckons. Sports Unlimited gives you a heads up on the new things you can do on this paradise island that never ceases to satisfy your urge for fun and the tropical life. It’s about that time. Sports Unlimited is now.
Boracay will always be known for its powdery white sands and as the most popular party beach in the Philippines… But as the years go by not only is this paradise island a party place … in the summer and windy seasons Boracay is now a destination for international watersports events! If you only know of the nightlife in Boracay. This show will shed a new light…. A sporty image that Boracay is now giving out to all who want more than just the Boracay booze and chill factor. Leave it to Ernie and Jeena Lopez of Metro Active Magazine to get another new sport on the beach and making it known to all those who love to play on the water.
Alright let’s get the definitions out of the way Stand up paddle boarding is an ancient form of surfing dating back to the 1940’s in Polynesia. It’s a sport that came from doing another sport …. surfing. Paddle boarding was a way for surfers to paddle out to the break standing up using a bladed paddle. A new experience since they normally paddle out lying down and ducking under the waves. The modern stand up paddle boards allows you to catch waves a lot earlier. But of course the key is being able to keep your balance which Ernie tried to teach us.
The waves were big in Bolabog which made it difficult for us to stay standing. Alright … I can’t stand so, what if I kneel instead with Ernie standing who knows, this technique of mine will be used in the future. Marc and I are not the type to give up!! Although we also know when we’re not going to get it done so we decided to lighten it up and have fun with it. Everyone else was also having a good time which I have to say is key when trying something for the first time!
Something new to do in Boracay stand up paddle boarding in Bolabog Beach, head there and get your hands on the board and a paddle and leave the island with a new skill and new memories of your summer in paradise.
We’ve done beach football and you’ve seen it, but this show is all about the new stuff you can do on the island. It’s still football, but it’s not on the beach it’s indoors … on the table... in Ariel’s House…. Station 1….Spend an afternoon or morning or evening …. Having foosball fun!
My partner Marc was trying to hide the fact that he already has been bitten by the foosball craze proof of that he has his personal foosball table. I’m not making excuses ahead of time for myself but it is my first time to get my hands on a foosball table… but I’m game! Let’s play foosball. I paired with Ariel and Marc paired with his AXN lady friend Paula. This game is cool! now we know what we can do to keep active on a rainy day if we chance up on a rainy day on the island. Foosball at Ariel’s House! Marc and Paula whooped Ariel and I in the game but this won’t be the last time I face Marc in foosball. Mark my word!! I really like this game! Next time you’re in Boracay, head to Ariel’s House for some foosball. You’ll get a kick out of it literally!
After a game of foosball Ariel wanted us to sample the food from his kitchen. If there’s one thing about Ariel, He knows how to spoil his guests when it comes to food… his chef prepared shrimp tempura, a gourmet chicken dish… past… beef tips and vegetables. A total gourmet feast fitting to celebrate my partner Marc’s birthday! You’re a year older partner! But like they say age is just a number… and your number to us will always be the number ONE! Spending birthdays in Boracay are tough to beat! Consider spending your birthday on the beach if you haven’t had one. Creating new memories makes for a whole lot of fun!
There are no limits in the beaches of Boracay. Its white sands have been the turf for beach football, beach volleyball, ultimate Frisbee and now beach tennis has found its way to Boracay’s white sands! Now tennis buffs that come to Boracay can enjoy the best of both worlds. The beach bum and the tennis buff in you. Something new you can say while basking under the sun… tennis anyone?!
Nothing makes you feel like you are sitting in the lap of luxury more than a sunset cruises in Boracay. Guests of the luxurious Waling Waling resort now can add a cruise to the list of amenities they can enjoy while staying at the resort. Tito Orly and Tita Chat Sacay, the owners of Waling Waling have been family friends since I was little but who knew that after all these years I’ll get to stay in their wonderful resort in paradise and taking a cruise that celebrates all of Boracay’s splendor. Want to feel really spoiled this wonderful Waling Waling cruise will do that.
Thanks to everything Boracay has to offer summer in the Philippines is a season to look forward to discover more of the new crazes this island has to offer on the next Sports Unlimited! Life is always more fun on the beach. |
