From
the party island of Boracay, Sports Unlimited celebrates its 9th
year on air aboard the magnificent M/S Vianelle.
Long-time
friends of the show plus many of the fun, fun Boracay visitors and
some of the coolest island residents are all on board for this celebration.
So
boys and girls, let's get this party started!

Let
Sports Unlimited be the first to introduce you to the Vianelle,
a stunning 72-foot yacht with a luxurious 33-foot wide deck. It's
the newest party boat in Boracay that can accommodate over 100 people.
Partying comes naturally to the owners of the Vianelle.
Meet
Arne Johansen, a proud Viking by ancestry, and Marcello Keiser,
who comes from the Principality of Leichtenstein, a country that
only has 20,000 citizens.
Arne
and Marcello mean business. When it comes to the art of creating
fun, the golden rule on their boat is that everyone has to have
a good time.
We
left the main beach before lunch and our first stop was Baling Hai
where we were to spend a few hours playing with some of the wacky
water toys Boracay has to offer, all of them courtesy of our new
friend Jun of Bora Sea Sports.
Jun pulled out all the stops just for our 9th anniversary. He brought
every water toy you could possible fancy having on the beach
Having fun is what this boat is all about. This yacht from any angle
is a stunner. Sports Unlimited is very privileged to be the first
TV crew to be invited on board the Vianelle.
This
boat is definitely a beauty. Speaking of beauty, there is no lack
of beauty on board the Vianelle that day and the guys on board were
no push-overs either. Needless to say the boat's official photographer,
Peter, had a field day snapping away.
Sports Unlimited is no stranger to all kinds of boats but leave
it to us to find the best of the best.
Let
it be known, there are absolutely no average parties held on this
yacht and this special Sports Unlimited party is proof to that.
When it comes to fun in the water, everyone on our guest list is
a go-getter. The minute the crew dropped anchor in Baling Hai, our
guests wasted no time in putting the jet skis to work
My son Matthew was the most "kulit" of all. “Mommy
Mommy can I get on the jet ski now? "
I told
Mat he was not big enough to drive the jet ski on his own so he
settled for the next best thing: ride with mommy.
I
have to say speed does not seem to intimidate Mat. The faster the
jet ski, the bigger his smile.
Christine San Diego, another long-time friend of Sports Unlimited
is the type of mom, like myself, that does not want her kids to
be too sheltered and is not the nervous type at all. She likes her
kids to try all kinds of adventure stuff.
Her
daughter Alyssa will soon be a certified diver at her young age
and before she gets underwater she enjoys all the fun stuff you
can do on the water like jet skiing.
You
can bet your bottom dollar that if you are Marc Nelson's girlfriend
and you take a trip with him to the beach, you will find yourself
on a jet ski.
Warning: if you decide to go piggy back with Marc on a jet ski,
he gets very adventurous which can many times lead to bodies behind
him being thrown off the jet ski.
Mind you, though, when it comes to being adventurous, his girlfriend
Priscilla is right up there with Marc This beauty queen can do so
much more than win beauty titles.
Holy Molly! That jet ski just tipped over! Oh its Geoff Eigenmann
driving it. That figures.
We
were so glad to have Michael De Mesa and Julie on Sports Unlimited
for the first time and what a show to be on.
Anyone
who grew up with Mike and his family, like the Castillejos did,
knows that they are beach people so anything that has to do with
water sports is almost second nature to Mike. He looks very at ease
on that jet ski.
Mylene Dizon and Paolo Paraiso have been part of the Sports Unlimited
family for a long time and there was no way they were not going
to be present during our 9th anniversary party.
Any opportunity this couple has to come to Boracay and play in the
water, they take.
Paolo
and Mylene are tailor-made for adventure and we're sure that little
Tomas will be on a jet ski just like mom and pop sooner than we
know
"Crazy man" is a common description used before mentioning
the name Alvin Anson. Of course when we call him this, we use this
description as a term of endearment. If Alvin is crazy-funny on
land, he's scarily insane on the jet ski.
Do not ask what a jet ski can do for you but what Alvin can do with
a jet ski.
For heaven's sake Alvin and everyone else's sake on board the yacht:
Slow down, boy!
Getting
on jet skis is always a great adrenaline rush no matter how fast
or how slow you go. These machines are a must to bring along when
it comes to partying on board the Vianelle.
What
went on after the jet skiing was fantastically spontaneous and very
entertaining.
We
absolutely love unpredictability when we shoot our shows and this
summersault contest was exactly the unpredictability we look for
during a celebration like this.
Oh what fun it is to jump ship!

Did
we say earlier that we had all the water toys to satisfy everyone's
fancy?
How
lucky are we that we had previously made the acquaintance of Governor
Lee Verceles of Catanduanes and he happened to be back on the island
during our anniversary celebration.
We
were even luckier that the governor is a big time wakeboarding enthusiast
and the luckiest part of it all is. He happened to bring his decked-out
speedboat.
The wakeboarders in the group like Marc and Geoff were grinning
from ear to ear when they saw the governor's speedboat pull up.
No wakeboards, no problem.
Governor
Lee made sure that the speedboat came fully equipped for all to
enjoy wakeboarding.
Say whatever you want to say but when push comes to shove, swimmer
or non-swimmer, it's hard to resist a banana boat ride when your
with a big group in Boracay. And contrary to popular opinion, you
are never too old to get on a banana!
From
being with Geoff on so many of our shows throughout the years, we
can count with one hand how many times he is serious about anything
he does or anything he says. But word has it that Geoff has officially
been bitten by the wakeboarding bug.
Geoff has become such a trooper when it comes to extreme sports
and we would like to think that Sports Unlimited had a little bit
to do with that.
Geoff took this pretty bad fall and cut his mouth up pretty badly.
We're talking blood. Check this out. Geoff makes no big deal about
it. A little ice and a little TLC from his lovely woman and he was
back in the water in no time wakeboarding and lookin' mighty good.
Due to too much unpredictability and the extreme spontaneity on
Koy's part before he jumped we cannot air that part of the video
but just by taking note of everybody's shocked and blushing faces
you can pretty much imagine the vision we all saw very unexpectedly
right before Koy made the jump you just can't write this stuff.

If
you're the fun and adventurous type and have graduated from the
thrill you get from riding the banana boat, we highly recommend
the sea biscuit as the next step higher up on the challenge ladder.
It was Matthew's first time to get on the sea biscuit and I must
say, he hanged in there like a big boy.
The
problem though was not getting Mat on the sea biscuit, but getting
him off.
I had
to remind him that we needed to give our other guests a chance to
ride.
A biscuit has never brought me so much excitement before.
Trust
us, being on a banana boat is a lot more fun than it looks. And
it's extra fun when you go with a group of crazy buddies like these.
For
what it's worth, you will always have a guaranteed funny story to
tell after each run.
Now the sea biscuit is a different story. To hang on during this
ride is a lot tougher than it looks. Just ask Priscilla.
Lets admit it: wakeboarders look cool and they swear that once you
try the sport, you will most likely get addicted to it.
Find
yourself on a wakeboard somewhere whenever you have free time.
I wonder
how much practice it takes to be able to do a tandem criss-cross
stunt like this.
We
told you earlier that Alvin was a crazy man and we mean that in
the most wonderful way.
If
it wasn't for Alvin's signature personality this scene would never
have happened
Here's an FYI for all of you: Alvin is related to "Mr. Pure
Energey" himself, Gary Valenciano.
But
Alvin and Alvin only has earned the title: "Mr. Excess Energy."
This
is what parties on this yacht are all about. Uninhibited Fun with
a capital "F. "
The
Vianelle has the capability to transform ordinary celebrations and
create something extraordinary.
Owners
Arne Johansen & Marcello Kaiser take pride in the reputation
they are gaining on the island that their Vianelle is the ultimate
party boat.
The
fun you see everybody having is unmistakable.
Even
the R & B prince Jay-r who has the reputation of being a "shy
guy" is shedding that shyness and feeling the fun. Believe
you me. Alvin's " excess energy" can rub off on you real
quick.
Governor
Lee is our kind of politician outgoing, fun, and loves the outdoors.
To
be completely honest, when he is in Boracay, you would assume he
was a competitive wakeboarder rather than a government official.
Now
that's a good thing in our book. Check out the gov do the impressive
moves.
Now,
don't get us wrong: Gov. Lee; as we fondly call him, loves our country
first and foremost but he will be the first to tell you very honestly
that wakeboarding comes in a very close second.
Hats
off to Priscilla when she rode the sea biscuit with Marc. Talk about
"hanging on to your man" literally.
If
no one tells Marc to get of that biscuit he could be on it till
sunset. After witnessing this scene for a while, we started to pitty
poor, pretty Priscilla.
But
then again we thought, “the couple that sea biscuit's together...stays
together." Ouch!

Anyone
who spends a lot of time in the water knows that when you get out,
you are hungry.
When
you have your parties on the Vianelle, if you like they can prepare
their own comfort food for you or you have the option to bring your
own food on board.
In
our case, our generous and forever loyal friends from Nigi-Nigi
Nu Nu gave us two of their humungous signature seafood platters.
Looks delish!
We
also took into consideration those on board that were not very fond
of seafood so we called on an old friend of the show, Sandy Javier
who made sure his tasty Andoks chickens were part of our feast.

Don't
let the name fool you. Yes, it's called "The Flying Fish"
but you will not see any fish flying the entire time you are on
this ride.
My
sister, Jackie, figured that if there was anything that was going
to fly during this ride, it would be her tiny 90-pound body. So
before the fish even began to fly, she chickened out and jumped
off the ride and swam for her life.
Word from the wise: When it comes to picking your riders on the
flying fish, make sure you have a few that are over a hundred pounds
just so your chances of tipping over are not 100 percent.
Our
group had a lot of light weights so look how close we are to tipping
over.
The second group that went on the flying fish learned a good lesson
from us and made sure they had a few guys that packed in the pounds
as riders. No offense guys, just making an observation.
Very scary feelings creep up on you while on this ride but I guess
it's the fear factor that makes the flying fish way fun.
After all was said and done at the end of the day, the group consensus
was this: You have not partied fully in Boracay till you have partied
on the M/S Vianelle.
Everyone had a "raging" good time.
We
could not have asked for a better way to celebrate our 9th year
on air.
We had the kind of fun that will keep us talking about this day
at least till the next party we attend on this big beautiful boat.
You know when you really get right down to it, the Vianelle is not
just a sailboat. It’s a great place to be when you choose
to be out at sea.
Before
we called it a day, there was still one last surprise. A memorable
juice bar champagne toast that was the picture perfect way to describe
how special we all felt to have been part of this great affair on
board this phenomenal boat. |
