Viloria the victorious, Viloria is victorious!
Yes,
the fight went longer than what a lot of people expected but the
bottomline is that the belt remains with Brian Viloria.
Brian
Viloria still does not know what a defeat feels like. He is 19 and
0 since he turned professional four and a half years ago.
Brian took a lot of punches from Jose Antonio "El Jaguar"
Aguirre against the ropes in the early rounds but when he decided
to start causing damage.
The blood stains on Aguirre's shorts told the story.
Brian
added another convincing Pinoy point to the extra heated Mexico
versus Philippines boxing rivalry.
Most true champions always give back and Manny Pacquiao did just
that.
Brian
was part of the Philippine broadcasting team during Manny's memorable
battle against Erik Morales in January. Barely a month after, "The
Pacman" flew back to Las Vegas to give Brian personal words
of wisdom for his fight.
When
it came to fight night, the tables were turned. Manny was part of
the Philippine broadcasting team for Brian's title defense fight.
Speed isn't worth much without accuracy. Looking closely at Aguirre's
face when I talked to him after the fight, I realized how accurate
Brian was when punching to the face.
Aguirre's
face told me this. "When you decide to fight Viloria, you will
pay."
Aguirre
admitted to me in the locker room after the fight that he has never
been this badly beaten in the face in all his career.
Aguirre
fought the fight of his life, but he was up against an opponent
who will fight to the death for his great love. Brian is deeply
in love with his belt. Deeply.
Everybody loves Brian, this 108-pound fighter has brought celebrity
to the light flyweight division like no other fighter has done.
No
matter what Brian decides to do in the future, be it a musician,
an actor in the big screen or go down in the boxing history books
as one of the greatest fighters of all time, one thing is for sure.
Brian will be who Brian wants to be for right now he is an undefeated
champion.
He
is the man to beat.
Brian
defies convention. He is no ordinary boxer. He is special, he is
a superstar. He is Pinoy.
Viloria
is victorious. Viva Viloria! |
