P.Noy's sister hopes Filipinos won't forget mom Cory
MANILA, Philippines - One year after President Corazon Aquino passed away, her daughter Pinky Aquino Abelleda can't help but marvel at the contrast in the turn of events in their family's life.
"Iniisip ko ngayon, Friday, [one year ago] medyo hirap na hirap talaga yung paghinga niya. Less than 48 hours wala na siya. Nung nagso-SONA si Noynoy, ini-imagine ko, wow presidente na ang kapatid ko, pero at this time last year, hirap na hirap na ang mom. Grabe ang buhay. Yung mga contrast sa buhay," said Abelleda at the launch of the Kasama Ako sa Pagbabago campaign on Times Street in Quezon City on Friday morning. (See story here:)
"Nakita niyo naman how our lives changed. Parang iniisip ko nga na that morning, 10 a.m. on August 1, when we were bringing her body out of Makati Med, di ko akalain na magbabago talaga ang buhay namin. So there’s a reason naman para sa lahat ng nangyayari di ba. Di natin kinukwestiyon. So tatanggapin ang ibibigay sa atin ng Panginoon," she added.
Abelleda admitted that in spite of their loss, the Aquino family received so much blessings since their mother passed away. Her only brother, Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, became the President of the Philippines less than a year after former President Cory Aquino's death.
But more than that, Abelleda singled out a bigger blessing. "Nationwide yung pagmamahal ng mga tao. Talagang sobrang nagpapasalamat kami dun," she said.
Abelleda added, "Sana hindi niyo siya makalimutan. Kasi alam ko naman hanggang ngayon tumutulong pa siya sa ating lahat. Super minahal niya ang bayan at inialay niya ang most of her life para sa bayan. Kaya grabe rin naman magsukli ang Pilipino."
President Cory was known to be a humble person. "I’m sure kung nanonood yun, dati sinasabi niya, nahihiya na siya sa ginagawa ng mga Pilipino sa kanya. Di rin niya mai-imagine na ganito ang pagmamahal sa kanya. So sa lahat ng mga nagmamahal sa mother namin, sobrang sobrang thank you talaga," said Abelleda.
President Cory Aquino's death anniversary falls on August 1.

Doubtful
With the Marcoses back, apparently Pinoys do forget quickly so i doubt if Cory will be remembered at all by the next generation. Sure, as a democracy icon but NO as a President and a good leader since nothing was achieved in this country during her time. Now that another Aquino is in charge, nothing has been achieved so far except the wang wang issue. People are losing jobs, tables devoid of food, skilled workers still leaving the country, how to free the mutineers and the naggings of ABNoys have been so far evidents of this government's activities.
