This 2014, short hair is in
MANILA – Get ready to chop off your long hair as shorter cuts are expected to make a splash this year, an international stylist said.
Louis Phillip Kee, who has trained in London and Hongkong, said 2014 will be all about “straighter hair, shorter hair and bold colors.”
“For the last few years, if you’ve noticed, we’ve been seeing a lot of waves and curls,” Kee, who runs a chain of self-named salons in Manila, said in an interview on “Morning@ANC” on Thursday.
“So it’s time for a change, to move away from the curls and back to nice, straight hair that is fun and easily manageable,” he added.
Kee noted how the signs of the comeback of short hair have been seen as early as last year in some of the biggest celebrities abroad.
“We’ve seen pixie cuts come in, one by Jennifer Lawrence, and Miley Cyrus as well. And bobs like the one of Nicole Kidman,” he explained. “This year’s hair fashion is about fun, about freedom.”
In terms of makeup, the fresh, “no makeup” look is once again the “in” thing at the start of 2014, reported Obet Federizo, senior stylist and professional makeup artist at Louis Phillip Kee Premier Salon.
Federizo suggested using peach apricot eye shadow, a powder shade that is close to a person’s skin color, and cheek tint for that sun kissed effect.
“Summer is approaching so you don’t need a lot of colors on your face,” he said. “Also, make your eyebrows look more natural.”
For evening makeup, just switch to a darker colored lipstick and use smokey eye shadow.
“Smokey eyes is still in. It will never go away,” Federizo said.
