Obama salutes Led Zeppelin rock band
US President Obama honored hard rock band Led Zeppelin at the 35th Kennedy Center Honors Awards Night. The superband from the 70s was awarded with other notable artists in Washington DC.

It was refreshing to see the US President take things lightly and honor the rock icons and remaining members of the band--Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones--at the White House reception.

2012 KCH Honorees
The Kennedy Center Honorees for 2012 who were awarded with Led Zeppelin were David Letterman, Dustin Hoffman, Ballerina Natalia Makarova and Blues musician Buddy Guy.
The Kennedy Center Honors culminated in a performance night with industry artists honoring the Honorees at the Kennedy Center Opera House.
Alec Baldwin, Jimmy Kimmel, Jeff Beck, Leni Kravitz, Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Heart were among the many artists who honored the awardees.

The awards night ended with an epic performance of the hit song "Stairway to Heaven" by the 80s band Heart led by Ann and Nancy Wilson jamming with the son of John Bonham, Led Zeppelin's deceased member/drummer. The rendition included a live orchestral chorus that touched the hearts of everyone including President Obama and his First Lady Michelle.
