Pinay winner of Miss Tourism Int'l back home
MANILA, Philippines -- Filipina beauty Rizzini Alexis Gomez returned home on Thursday night from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she was crowned Miss Tourism International 2012.
Gomez arrived at around 10:30 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 via a Cebu Pacific flight.
The Cebuana beauty, who bested 55 other international contestants at the Miss Tourism International pageant, is set to hold a press conference with local media on Friday.
During her courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Eduardo Malaya on Thursday, Gomez said was "honored to represent the Philippines in [Miss Tourism International]."
"I was still floating, asking myself if this really happened... It gave me an opportunity to travel and meet other people. I am excited to travel and learn about new things and culture, which I did during the pageant," she said.
Gomez's title finish as Miss Tourism International is the Philippines' ninth notable pageant performance in 2012, following the likes of Janine Tugonon (first runner-up, 61st Miss Universe), Stephany Stefanowitz (first runner-up, 12th Miss Earth), and June Macasaet (winner, 16th Manhunt International).
