How Donaire, wife Rachel settle arguments
MANILA, Philippines -- A fuming Rachel Donaire once took on a challenge from her husband, Filipino boxing champ Nonito, to settle their argument "in the ring."
Champions in their respective combat sport, the couple once opted to address their quarrel through physical offense, Nonito candidly shared with "Showbiz Inside Report" in an interview aired Saturday.
"Actually there's one time, galit na galit siya sa 'kin. 'Sige, ilabas mo 'yung galit mo, punta tayo ng ring.' She tried to beat me up. Pinagbigyan ko lang," Nonito said, laughing.
Born and raised in California, Rachel was a USA national collegiate and military taekwondo champion.
The athletic beauty married the four-division boxing champ in 2008 in the United States.
"It's her loyalty," Nonito said, when asked on the qualities he admires most about his wife. "I've never been with anyone na minamahal niya ako nang husto. Mahal ko rin siya eh."
The ESPN Fighter of the Year also sees as a "blessing" Rachel's know-how in handling finances.
Nonito's knockout win versus Mexican Jorge Arce in December earned the Pinoy boxer his first million-dollar pay.
"I'm blessed na nandoon 'yung wife ko, kasi mautak 'yung wife ko. Alam ni Rachel kung paano... she has a degree in business," Nonito said.
"Everytime na nananalo ako, sa locker room, kinakantsawan ako, 'O, Rach, sa'yo na ang kita ni Donaire ah,'" he added.
