KidsFest Manila postponed due to 'Yolanda'
MANILA -- The Manila run of the KidsFest children's theater festival set next week has been postponed, organizers announced on Monday.
This after super typhoon "Yolanda" (international name Haiyan), which hit parts of Visayas last November, "forced a clear change of focus for the whole population," said ABA Productions executive producer Matthew Gregory.
"Spending money on entertainment has been replaced with helping others in need. Ticket sales have reflected this and we feel it is in the best interests of all concerned to postpone to a future time, possibly in 2015," Gregory said in a statement.
"We have notified TicketWorld for the suspension of ticket sales, and refunds will be issued," he added. "I would like to take the opportunity to thank all our partners for the support, and sincerely hope to bring KidsFest to Manila in the near future."
Initially scheduled from January 17 to 26 in Manila, KidsFest was set to bring live performances of well-loved children's books such as "The Gruffalo's Child" and "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" to the local theater scene.
Organizers earlier said they will donate part of the proceeds to typhoon survivors.
