MANILA – Miss Universe 2013 third runner-up Ariella Arida expressed her excitement on seeing who will join the Binibining Pilipinas pageant this year.

“I’m excited for the upcoming Binibini 2014. This is the last day of applications and screening will be this Saturday,” Arida said in an interview on “Mornings@ANC” on Wednesday.

“A new batch of girls will be coming and I heard some of them have tried for last year’s batch… It’s pretty exciting for me, I want to see them all on Saturday,” she added.

Citing her experience during the Binibining Pilipinas pageant – and eventually Miss Universe – Arida said she has learned a lot not only about diet and fitness, but also about interacting with other people.

“Kasi when you join pageants, it’s not just about being beautiful outside, pati ‘yung inside mo nate-train, your personality,” she said.

According to Arida, the Binibining Pilipinas 2014 coronation night will be held on March 30.

Arida makes her magazine cover debut via the “body issue” of the local fashion magazine Metro, where she is seen wearing a sexy bikini.

“I don’t know, parang naiiyak pa rin ako… the same feeling noong nanalo ako noong Binibini,” the beauty queen said, referring to the experience of doing a shoot for a magazine cover.

“Very overwhelming na makita ko ‘yung sarili ko sa isang cover na before parang ako ‘yung nagbabasa and now, ‘yung story ko na ‘yung binagbasa ng mga tao. Nakakakilig,” she added.

On Metro’s January 2014 issue, Arida shares her humble beginnings, her pageant experience as well as some of her diet and fitness secrets.

“Sobrang active ‘yung lifestyle ko ever since, before I joined Binibini,” she shared. “Bata pa ako sanay na talaga ako na napapawisan. Thankful ako kasi ‘yun na ‘yung kinasanayan ng body ko, hindi na bago sa akin.”

Metro features editor Geolette Esguerra, for her part, said Arida is the perfect person to be on their first cover for 2014, which is the magazine’s 25th year.

“We’re all excited to have her on the cover. It wasn’t hard to choose her – I mean, she’s the top choice when we were thinking about the body issue,” Esguerra said.

“We wanted someone who represented the country. We wanted someone international and with a fantastic body. So that’s Ara (Arida),” she added.
