MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will not be updating his Facebook and Twitter accounts while the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona is ongoing.

In a note in his Facebook account, Marcos wrote: "In compliance with Rule XVIII of the Senate rules of procedure on impeachment trials that Senator/Judges 'refrain from making any comments and disclosures in public regarding [the] merits of [a] pending impeachment trial, I have decided to suspend my Twitter as well as Facebook account(s) during the pendency of the impeachment proceedings. Thank you."

Marcos is one of the 23 senators sitting as judges in the impeachment trial of Corona.

Senator-judges previously warned members of the House of Representatives prosecution team to refrain from presenting evidence and discussing the merits of the case to the media.

On Monday, Senate President and impeachment court presiding officer Juan Ponce Enrile again reminded both panels about the Senate rules, but dismissed a motion to cite the House prosecutors in contempt.
