Before the closing credits rolled on the ANC show on Tuesday, Taberna unexpectedly appeared on Davila’s show saying the host truly deserves the award because she always puts other people first.
“I’ve been with Karen Davila for how many years now. You are a special one to all of us. Nakita ko po si Karen Davila, walang pakialam sa sarili niya, laging sa ibang tao,” he said.
Obviously touched by the gesture, Davila thanked Taberna for the kind words.
She also extended her gratitude to People Asia for choosing her as one of the personalities who shone in the media industry.
“It’s a very big honor and very grateful ako sa People Asia because the People of the Year Awards is their biggest. Para mahanay sa mga taong ito from iba’t ibang fields, nakakatuwa lang na kumbaga, after all these years, you are still being appreciated,” she said.
Saying the award is an inspiration to her, Davila said she is grateful that award-giving bodies continue to appreciate and value her work.
“Nakakatuwa iyon eh. You can’t take it for granted. I’m 42 years old and mas mahal ko ang trabaho ko every single day and mas marami rin akong natutunan kumpara noong bata ako,” she said.
Davila also gave credit to the staff of “Headstart,” saying more people got to see her work because of the show.
“I’m really very touched. Thank you so much People Asia magazine for recognizing the work that I do but above all, I would not be People of the Year if not for ANC's 'Headstart'... I was told last night that it was very deserving because of everything that happened in 'Headstart.' To ANC, I love you very much,” she said.
