MANILA, Philippines - The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP) have agreed to work together for the promotion of original Filipino compositions in the country.

The two organizations made the deal during a signing of a memorandum of agreement last month, which updated earlier agreements on the payment of royalties by KBP member radio stations to FILSCAP members.

Present during the MOA signing are KBP's vice chairman Butch Canoy, president Ruperto Nicdao Jr., executive vice president Francis Cardona, vice president for Radio Albert Sikat, and legal counsel Atty. Rejie Jularbal.

Representing FILSCAP are president Noel Cabangon, general manager Debbie Gaite, corporate secretary Kedy Sanchez, legal counsel Atty. Mark Alciso, licensing manager Cristy Soqueño and licensing supervisor Jim Lejano.

Last year, the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit started a campaign to revive the interest of Filipino youth in Original Pilipino music through education.

The campaign, called Kulturang Lahi Inuuna Ko or KLIK, seeks to promote local music among students via reforms in the basic education curriculum.
