Monique Lhuillier filled her runway with jewel tones of emerald, red and gold with a variety of feminine silhouettes as she premiered her new collection at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week on Saturday.

"For Fall 2013, it's very dramatic. It's a striking, and mesmerizing collection. I drew inspiration for the colors from a malachite rock. And so I pulled the emerald greens and the blacks and just all these beautiful jewel tones and you'll see that sprinkled throughout the collection," said the designer.

At the beginning of the show, Lhuillier showcased neutral tones before a climactic and colorful entrance to the evening looks she is known for.

"In the beginning of the show I wanted to have the absence of colors. It's winter white in the beginning and then as it progresses into evening you'll see the jewel tones coming into the story," the designer told Reuters Television.

Butterfly prints on jackets, cocktails dresses and pants fit in between several black web lace looks which she considered some of her favorite from the collection. Lace pieces played a pivotal role in the line that aims to give women great movement and options for evening wear.

Emerald hued gowns from breezy chiffon to straight trumpet cuts put the designer on trend for the season.

Lhuillier put a twist on the traditional evening look by providing her woman a choice when it comes to dressing up.

"Evening cigarette pants, I think, is a very key silhouette this season. You know, women want to dress up for evening but they don't necessarily want to wear a gown. So I have a lot of options for them this season," Lhuillier said.

The Filipino-born designer also debuted her second shoe collection featuring a twist on booties and strappy heels.

In addition to her fashion and shoe lines, Lhuillier is now a jewelry designer. In 2012 she launched an engagement ring collection to go along with her growing line of products under her bridal brand.

Monique Lhuillier recently opened a retail store in New York City. Her flagship store is based in Los Angeles, where she currently resides.
