MANILA, Philippines - Several Filipinos turned to the Internet days before Valentine's Day to look for heartfelt messages, particularly Tagalog quotes, for their special someone on February 14.

According to Yahoo! Search Trends, most Filipino netizens sought help online for ideas on how to create Valentine's Day cards and other romantic gifts.

It noted that there was a spike of 145.69% in searches for Valentine's Day cards, and a particular interest in quotes written in the Filipino language.

"Beyond the regular expected searches during Valentine's Day for gifts, flowers and dining places, Yahoo!

Search Trends observed interesting trends related to 'famous quotes' and 'proposals/declaration of love' by the Filipinos," said Henryl Moreno, manager for editorial for search and platforms in Yahoo! Southeast Asia.

Roses also remain a popular choice among Filipino suitors, boyfriends and husbands as Yahoo! observed an 89.68% increase in searches for online flower shops.

Another popular search is the heart, with local netizens interested in how to make the most out of the popular Valentine symbol.
