MANILA, Philippines - Netizens bored with the Corona impeachment proceedings have started a beauty contest for women they see at the trial.
Using hashtags #TeamJimeno, #TeamJimenez and #TeamPilares, netizens have started, for fun, a beauty pageant on Twitter featuring three lawyers—Karen Jimeno, Macel Jimenez, and Richie Ramos-Pilares.
Jimeno is a spokesperson for the defense panel, Jimenez works at the Senate, and Pilares is one of the lawyers from Puno & Puno Law Offices representing PSBank.
Pilares graduated from the Ateneo Law School while the 2 others are from the University of the Philippines College of Law.
Jimeno got a fan following early in the impeachment trial, with admirers creating a Facebook page dedicated to her and and internet memes featuring photos of her.
Ramos-Pilares and Jimenez only recently caught people’s interest.
Ramos-Pilares served as PSBank Katipunan branch manager Annabelle Tiongson’s counsel.
Jimenez, meanwhile, recently happened to be seated behind one of the podiums used by senator-judges when addressing the court.
“I don’t really watch the impeachment trial, but wow! The lady seated beside the podium of the senator judge is pretty cute ha!” posted @dronthego on February 15.
Twitter user @mikeac2 posted a photo of Jimenez on February 10, and tweeted that “On a lighter note, those who’ve lost faith in #TeamJimeno may shift now to #TeamJimenez .”
He was referring to people who may have shifted from rooting for Chief Justice Renato Corona to the prosecution.
@paulolastimosa, meanwhile, asked that a photo of Ramos-Pilares be posted online, to which @jwara replied by posting a video of the impeachment trial uploaded by ANC, which showed Pilares introducing herself to the court.
@jwara said he laughed out loud at the “search for Miss Trial 2012”.
The beauty pageant has not really caught on—as of posting time, there have been less than ten people tweeting using hashtags #TeamJimeno, #TeamPilares and #TeamJimenez.
It has not only been the women that Filipinos are expressing their likes. The prosecution’s Rep. Miro Quimbo has also been in the limelight, as well as Rep. Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara.
“If you ban media, paano na ang art directed hair ni Miro Quimbo at Cream Silk hair ni Karen Jimeno?” tweeted @SunnyC in response to an earlier threat by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile to kick the media out of the proceedings.
Some people have even tweeted that they have a crush on Enrile because of his intelligence.

jimeno is exposed mostly on the trial since she is spokeperson for the defense panel kaya madalas siya mapansin compared to jimenez na nakikita lang sa likod ng podium ng mga senator-judges but for sure if given the fair grounds between the two of them..i go for jimenez pa din...

Karen Jimeno looks like she has just smelled something awful. Nababahuan. Ako rin, nababahuan sa kanya. Macel Jimenez, on the other hand, is real pretty. And beautiful.

it's a fact that us Filipinos are jolly people. that's why despite the serious matters that we're facing we still tend to find some other things to unwind to and serve as icebreakers. so, to all of you who'd rather dwell with the hours and hours of mostly purely complete wastes of time, get yourselves a life, because most of us would prefer to still have some fun..
